Lady Finger/ Bhindi/ Okra can be grown in warmer climates. The vegetable thrives in full-heat sun. So, place the plant in a spot that receives 5-6 hours of sunlight or else it won’t produce much fruit. Follow one simple rule - the hotter, the better.Prepare soil with compost material to make it nutrition-rich. Sow the seeds 7-8 inches apart in garden soil /seed bed and ½ inches deep. In 4-5 days, seeds germinate and tender leaves grow.Keep your Lady Finger/ Okra plant hydrated, water your plant every morning to allow it to retain water throughout the day.Space out the seedlings by thinning them when they’re about 3 inches tall (if you are growing the vegetable in garden soil). Thin out the smaller seedlings and leave the stronger ones intact. Keep your plant away from unwanted pests and weeds. If you spot any unwanted plants, remove them. To keep the bugs at bay, use a homemade pesticide and keep your plant in a good shape.Your first produce will be ready within 45 to 50 days of plantng. Harvest the produce when it’s 2-3 inches tall and keep harvesting once every two days. Use a scissor or simply pluck them just above their caps. Once you make a cut, another pod will start to grow from the same spot. Keep harvesting Lady Finger until the plant stops producing the crop. That’s all you have to do to get fresh supply of Lady Finger/ Okra in your gardens and homes.
