Select World Constitutions (Volume 2), with an introduction by U. N. Gupta, is a comprehensive book that contains the general features of various constitutions of different countries in the world. Summary of the Book Every constitution has its own set of unique characteristics depending upon the type of government such as republic, democratic, federal, autocratic, monarchic, or religious or other forms. The general features of a constitution usually encompass legislative, executive and judicial bodies of the government. The ethics and purposes of a state such as freedom, equality, civil liberties and maintenance of law and public order are other characteristics of a constitution. N. Gupta U.N. Gupta is the Vice Chancellor of the Allahabad University. Previously, he was the Professor of Law, Head of Law Department and Dean of Law Faculty in the University. His field of specialization is Constitutional Law and Public International Law. As an esteemed academician, he has authored six books: Constitutional Protection of Personal Liberty in India, 1969; Developments on the Frontiers of International Law, 1981; Indian Federalism and Unity of Nation, 1986; Indian Parliamentary Democracy, 2003; The Human Rights: Conventions and Indian Law, 2004; and The Law of the Sea, 2005. Also, he has published several research papers and has been guiding many aspirants in the field of academics.
