The Public Health Engineering has two aspects viz., Water Supply Engineering and Sanitary Engineering. The Water Supply Engineering deals with the procurement of water, its purification and distribution to the public. The Sanitary Engineering deals with the collection, conveyance, treatment and disposal of the sewage or wastewater as well as solid wastes. The subject of Water Supply Engineering has been dealt with in the author’s book entitled ‘Water Supply Engineering”. This book entitled ‘Sewage Treatment and Disposal and Wastewater Engineering’ deals with the subject of Sanitary Engineering. There are various books available on the subject of Sanitary Engineering, but author feels that each of these available books is lacking in one respect or the other. As such none of the available books on the subject is complete in all respects. The author has therefore made an attempt to bring our a book on the subject which may be reckoned as a complete text book in all respects. The subject matter has been presented in a simple unambiguous language. It contains latest available information based on the latest Indian Standards and various other Journals and Manuals on Sewage Treatment and Disposal. The book also includes Air Pollution Engineering which is also coming up in a big way in general environmental engineering. The text has been supported by a large number of Illustrative Examples and equally large number of Problems. The solved Illustrative Examples include the various problems from the latest question papers of the various Universities as well as various Competitive Examinations. Therefore this Single Book will fulfil the entire needs of the students appearing at the various University as well as Competitive Examinations, such as Engineering Services, Indian Civil Service, and those preparing for AMIE Examinations.
