Shakespeare and the Modern Stage is a collection of eleven essays that were written between 1899 and 1905. The essays look at the various aspects of Shakespearean plays and their influences and traditions. Mostly, they relate Shakespearean plays to modern life and discuss appropriate ways to bring Shakespeare to the modern stage.
