This story is a first-person narrative that follows the journey of Horace Holly and his ward Leo Vincey to a lost kingdom in the African interior. They encounter a primitive race of natives and a mysterious white queen named Ayesha who reigns as the all-powerful "SHE”, who is a 2,000-year-old woman who still looks great for her age. Ayesha lives in the 1800s in the heart of Africa and controls a lonely tribe of ravenous cannibals. When Englishmen enter her savage nation with hidden treasure, the magnificent Queen saves them instead of destroying them.
