This book presents the theory and concepts of Signals and Systems through analytical examples in a simple and lucid manner. This book is suitable for a one-semester undergraduate level course in Signals and Systems, for students in Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics and Computer Engineering programs as well as Information Technology. The book is also valuable for post-graduate students and practicing engineers for reviewing the basics of signals and systems. This textbook covers topics ranging from Introduction to signals and systems, Continuous-time (CT) and discrete-time (DT) signals and systems, Analysis of linear and time-invariant systems, Continuous-time Fourier series, Continuous-time Fourier transform, Discrete-time Fourier series, Discrete-time Fourier transform, Sampling and quantization, Laplace transform and z-Transform. MATLAB codes for all the chapters are given along with a brief introduction to MATLAB. Salient Features Provides clear-cut explanation of the basics using over 300 illustrations. Assumes no previous knowledge of the field. Provides over 250 detailed solved examples in all the chapters to help the student understand and master the concepts. All chapters include a summary to recap the concepts discussed. Provides over 150 multiple-choice questions and 150 problems to test the students on the material covered in all the chapters. Continuous-time (CT) and discrete-time (DT) signals and systems are discussed in parallel, to enable the readers to understand the similarities and differences between the two. All the topics can be read (covered) in the same order as given in the text which gives the reader continuity in learning. A brief introduction to MATLAB, followed by 35 MATLAB programs for generating frequently used signals, is given in Appendix A. About The Author V.
