In Six Not-So-Easy Pieces, Richard Feynman discusses Einstein’s relativity, symmetry and space-time theories. Summary of the Book Taken from Feynman’s celebrated Caltech lectures, this title is more challenging in its content than the previous volume, Six Easy Pieces. It provides an excellent analysis of one of the most important general areas of modern theoretical physics: relativity. The lectures, delivered in Feynman's matchless style, begin by dealing with issues of symmetry before moving on to Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity and how the principle of relativity affects our ideas of physics and other branches of human thought and studies. A few other lectures delve into relativistic energy, four-dimensional space-time and curved space. About Richard P. Feynman Richard Phillips Feynman was an American physicist and scientist best remembered for his work in the path integral formulation of quantum mechanics, the theory of quantum electrodynamics, and the physics of the superfluidity of supercooled liquid helium, as well as in particle physics. He is also known in academic circles for his series of lectures on physics which were recorded and compiled into a series of books entitled The Feynman Lectures on Physics. He is also known for his semi-autobiographical books: Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman! and What Do You Care What Other People Think? Feynman received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1965 with Julian Schwinger and Sin-Itiro Tomonaga for his contributions to the development of quantum electrodynamics. A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Princeton University, where he also completed his Ph.D., he participated in the Manhattan Project.
