Having passed the CASC, we understand that apart from the clinical skills, communication skills play a major role in passing the exam. We have attended many contemporary courses for CASC and also read the recommended materials in preparation for the exam. Having successfully passed CASC, we came up with a material of our own based on knowledge and information that we derived from our practice and various sources. We have also included information leaflets, which we found immensely helpful in the management stations. Our colleagues who went through this material found it extremely useful and suggested that we compile all of the materials into a book and organise a course. Hence, we came up with the idea of bringing out this book titled ‘Skills for CASC’, the skills including Clinical and Communication skills. The idea is that Clinical skills is the content and Communication skills is about delivering the content. We strongly believe that as far as CASC is concerned, clinical skills and communication skills are like Yin and Yang, hence the cover page. The aim of this would be to help students preparing for the exam understand CASC better. We have been conducting courses in UK and India to help trainees and international graduates like us pass the CASC exam. We have tried our best to bring out this book in a way that will benefit all the doctors taking up CASC. We would greatly appreciate it if the students give us their honest feedback and help us improve the book further.
