About Kurt Vonnegut Kurt Vonnegut was an American writer of satire, dark humour and science fiction. He is best remembered for novels such as Cat's Cradle, Breakfast of Champions, and The Sirens of Titan. A World War II Veteran, he was awarded a Purple Heart and his experiences as a prisoner of war greatly influenced his writing. The current title was adapted into a critically acclaimed 1972 major motion picture, winning a Hugo Award, and Saturn Award.
