Rated 16 by PEGI, developed by Rebellion Oxford and published by 505 Games, Sniper Elite 3 is a single-player/multiplayer tactical shooter video game for the Xbox 360 console. Sniper Elite 3 serves as a prequel to the game Sniper Elite V2 and is the third title in the Sniper Elite game series. Set in North Africa during the Second World War, the plot of Sniper Elite 3 follows Karl Fairburne, an American OSS agent, ordained to perform reconnaissance and to assist the Allied forces with his sharpshooter skills. Along the course of his mission Karl finds out about a secret “wonder weapon” tank which is capable of annihilating the Allied forces. The gameplay of Sniper Elite 3 requires the player to be extremely stealthy when making his or her way through the, now much larger, open environments. The massive surroundings and the non-linear routes give greater freedom to the player when it comes to movement and approach of play. The player needs to scour the maps so as to make and discover opportunities to take out enemies. The revamped A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) system that has been incorporated in this game emphasizes more on tactics and squad roles. More than 40 new distinct customization parts for one’s rifle can be unlocked by participating in the single-player and multiplayer modes and earning sniper ranks. The three kinds of co-op multiplayer modes offered are the following: Overwatch, Story Campaign and the newly introduced Survival mission. Deathmatch, Team Distance King, Distance King and No Cross are among some of the featured competitive multiplayer modes. Another highlight is the X-Ray Kill-Cam which allows the player to see physical features with greater detail; one can even see the muscle layer and circulatory system of an opponent once the latter has been targeted. Furthermore, stealth melee combat has been enhanced and comprehensive feedback is presented to players so that they can decide how to handle short-range or long-range combat situations.
