About The Author:- B.K. Nagla studied at Udaipur University, Udaipur and Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and obtained Ist class in M.A. in 1972 from Udaipur and also received M.Phil. in 1974 and Ph.D. in 1978 from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Before joining at M.D. University in 1978, he has researched at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and also taught at M.S. University, Baroda and Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science, New Delhi. He retired as professor of sociology from M.D.University Rohtak, Haryana in 2006. After the retirement from M.D.University, Rohtak, he worked as consultant at Kota Open University and also joined at Banaras Hindu University as Professor on Babu Jagjivan Ram Chair. He has completed a large number of projects sponsored by UGC, ICSSR, NGO and state and central government. He is distinguished social analyst. His work includes political sociology, sociology of profession, sociology of deviance and crime and studies on underprivileged. He has published about ten books and 50 research papers in national and international journals. The main books are: Factionalism, Politics and Social Structure; Political Sociology; Women Crime and Law; Development and Transformation; Introducing Sociology; Indian Sociological Thought; Social Stratification and Social Mobility etc. He is awarded an ISC Fellow Award for the growth and Development of the Indian Society of Criminology given by the Council of the Indian Society of Criminology, affiliated with the International Society of Criminology, Paris. Recently, he is also awarded a lifetime achievement award from Rajasthan Sociological society. He travelled to many countries like United Kingdom, France, Germany, Netherland, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Spain, Singapore, Canada and USA etc. for various personal and academic assignments.
