About Hans Van Vliet Hans Van Vliet is a Professor at the Department of Information Management and Software Engineering, VU University Amsterdam. Dr. van Vliet worked as a researcher at the Dutch National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science and as a visiting scientist at the IBM Research Laboratory in San Jose, California. He is currently a professor of Software Engineering at the Vrije Universiteit, working there for the past 30 years. A graduate of VU, he obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Amsterdam. Dr. van Vliet's research interests lie in the fields of software architecture, knowledge management in software development, global software development, and empirical software engineering. He has also contributed to Software Architecture Knowledge Management: Theory and Practice.
