Guggal is made from the sap (gum resin) of the commiphora mukul tree. Guggal gum resin is used for arthritis, lowering high cholesterol, hardening of the arteries, acne and other skin diseases and weight loss. Guggal contains a mixture of sterols, steroids, esters and alcohols with multiple medicinal benefit. Guggal reduces the absorption of fats and cholesterol in the intestine, it also increase the removal of bile acids and cholesterol. It also reduces hardening of blood vessels and stickiness of platelets. Guggal increase the activity of enzymes that break down fats. Guggal stimulated the thyroid gland increasing iodine uptake and activity of the thyroid enzymes.
