Indian drama, a vibrant genre with culturally-rich output, continues to focus on local culture and specificities while also following global trends in literature. It offers unique perspectives on space and gender in contemporary Indian society. In this collection of research papers on Indian drama, the two topics of space and gender have been critically examined. The book is divided into two sections: the first section deals with exploration of 'space' as a theme while the second section deals with the theme of 'gender'. There are six papers in the first section that analyze various aspects of spatiality in the plays of contemporary Indian playwrights like Mahesh Dattani, Manjula Padmanabhan, Poile Sengupta, Annie Zaidi and Ramu Ramanathan. The second section contains nine papers that explore gender and various subthemes in the plays of Vijay Tendulkar, Mahesh Elkunchwar, Dina Mehta, Mahesh Dattani and Munjula Padmanabhan.
