The book provides field-based tools for linking the ‘micro’ or the people’s voice at the local level with the ‘meso’-‘macro’ or public-policy making at higher levels. Drawing from field research in developing countries, it describes 27 voice tools for gaining the larger picture and institutional space. “Speaking to Power” is a research frontier for which the book meets a long term need for centre-staging methodological advances in voice tools. In the process it makes a significant contribution towards participatory field research. The book is meant for policy makers, policy experts, planners, development practitioners, action researchers, civil societies, advocacy groups, students and teachers of development, donor community and all others engaged in community development, poverty reduction and social development.
