The textless stories encourage young children to engage with the topics, without being constrained by reading difficulties. The artefacts act as useful prompts to promote a range of different 'talk', such as exploratory, role-play and structured conversation, and they can be taken home to encourage talking with parents or carers. Supporting each book and artefact is a set of free teacher's notes.
