The Bhagavad Gita is a Hindu scripture that is part of the Mahabharata, one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India. It is a dialogue between the warrior Arjuna and his charioteer Krishna, who is an avatar of the god Vishnu. The Gita takes place on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, just before the start of the Kurukshetra War, a fratricidal war between two groups of cousins, the Pandavas and the Kauravas.
