The language of theatre has always fascinated me thanks to its multiple peels. The written word was the one that gripped me first, as I read the work of great playwrights, not only the Great Bard, but voices from far and near speaking through the drama of centuries. As performance became a close reality, the spoken word and the unspoken word caught my attention. Quickly, the visual images demanded they too be taken note of, as did the physical spaces we began to explore. The collaboration of various arts in the theatre declares itself to me as a magnificent voice of harmony without compromise. And the audience, that unknown quantity that is only half-aware of its own power of creativity, the audience generally sits in my head, as I work as playwright and/or director, making noises that often drive me to distraction, to self-questioning, to anger, to gratitude, to understanding. And the actor, who can forget the actor’s voice! My theatre journey has been hand in hand with The Mustard Seed Art Company.
