In this book, Jennifer Ring questions the forces that have kept girls away from the game, although there is abundant talent available in the country. Stolen Bases also offers insights into American softball, which was started by men who wanted to play baseball even during winter. The game has become the consolation sport for female players now, and Ring attempts to find ways to protect and restore the American sport from being men's game to being people’s game. About Jennifer Ring Jennifer Ring is a professor of political science. She is a former director of women's studies at the University of Nevada, Reno. She has also compiled The Political Consequences of Thinking: Gender and Judaism in the Work of Hannah Arendt and several other articles on gender in American sports.
