These stainless steel straws come with silicone tips. The reason is that using silicone tip makes it comfortable to use the metal straw with hot or cold drinks. As steel conducts heat, it can become uncomfortable to use with cold or hot drinks. This is especially so for little children. The removable silicone tips solve this issue. Silicone tips are also otherwise more comfortable to use as compared to metal, as they are soft.
