Energy Conservation is gaining significance in the Indian context as the government’s efforts over the last five years to encourage private and foreign investments in the power sector has not brought in desired results. Government has planned additional capacity as well as energy conservation as two pronged approach to fulfil the energy needs of the growing economy during the Eighth Five Year Plan.
