Syzygium aromaticum, a tree in the Myrtaceae family, produces cloves as its aromatic flower buds. They are mostly used as a spice and are indigenous to Indonesia's Maluku Islands. Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, Madagascar, Zanzibar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania are the main countries where cloves are economically harvested.
