About Anant Pai Anant Pai, born in 1929, was the founder of Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle, and was also a specialist in personality development. Pai is the author of Famous Scientists, How To Develop Self-confidence, and Bhagawat: The Krishna Avatar. The author completed his dual degree in Physics, Chemistry, and Chemical Technology from Bombay University. After graduation, he worked as a Junior Executive at The Times of India’s books division. He once saw a quiz contest in which children couldn’t answer questions on Indian mythology. So Pai quit his job in 1967, and became the creator, writer, editor and publisher of the Amar Chitra Katha. Pai founded Tinkle in 1980, and it has published more than six hundred issues till date. The author was called Uncle Pai, and he founded Rang Rekha Features in 1969. He was awarded the 1996 Maharashtra Rajya Hindi Sahitya Academy Award, and the 2000 Millennium Konkani Sammelan Award. In February 2011, Pai became the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the First Indian Comic Convention. He passed away six days later.
