The author of this book is Mushtaq Ahmad Wani. In this book he has tried to describe the literary and cultural crisis that took place after the partition of 1947, and how the literary and cultural crisis had an effect on the Urdu novel. The names of some of the novels which reflect the cultural crisis are gaudan, aag ka dariya, basti etc.
