Summary Of The Book A complete guide to learning German, this book aims to help the learners understand the basics and proceed to comprehend, speak and write the language flawlessly. While highly recommended for beginners, it is a good reference book for those who wish to either refresh their knowledge or learn just the basics of German for communication in formal and informal settings. The book follows an interesting format, which is quite different from other language learning programs or texts. Teach Yourself German Book 5th Edition follows a gradual pattern. It has been divided into 25 topical parts. The book first teaches the readers the very basic elements of communication like introducing oneself, and subsequently progresses to teach proper conversational language skills. The book places special emphasis on fluency and grammar but does not overwhelm the reader with a lot of complicated information at once. In addition to the multiple exercises to aid the readers to practice as they learn, the book is replete with tips to enhance pronunciation and grammar as well. In order to enhance the learning experience, the course is available in a pack with a book and a CD too.  About The Authors In addition to being an author, Paul Coggle is a renowned language consultant. Apart from this book, Coggle has authored Do You Speak Estuary?: The New Standard English, Willkommen!, and German Extra! (Teach Yourself Books) (Teach Yourself). He is based in London, United Kingdom. He presently works at the University of Cambridge as a senior language consultant. He is a proponent of language learning supported by technology. He studied German and French at the University of London and followed it up with a teaching qualification at King’s College, London. He has taught German and served as a language consultant at various institutes. Heiner Schenke is a writer, Senior Lecturer at the University of Westminster and teaches German. He is also serving as the Director for the university’s open language program. He has co-authored multiple books on learning the German language. His books have been translated into other languages like Spanish and French. He studied German literature and philosophy at the University of Hanover, before he went to London and settled there.  He presently lives in Greenwich, United Kingdom with his family.
