About the Book:This book explores the spread and teaching of English Language in India, in general and Madhya Pradesh, in particular. Attitudes of students from all streams, (including science, commerce and arts) towards the global issues that are focused upon in their English course are discussed and their relevance to the students' interests scrutinized. The study investigates undergraduate students' motivation for reading the prescribed texts as well as texts other than the ones in syllabus. The study covers students from diverse educational and socio-economic backgrounds.About the Author: Lata Mishra obtained her Master's Degree in English from Dayalbagh Educational Institute (Deemed University), Dayalbagh, Agra and completed her Ph.D. degree from Jiwaji University, Gwalior. She has been teaching Undergraduate and Postgraduate classes since 1994. Presently she is posted at Department of English Studies and Research of Government Kamala Raje Girls (Autonomous) Postgraduate College, Gwalior. She is an approved research guide in Jiwaji University, Gwalior. She has published more than fifty research papers in anthologies and journals of national and international repute. Her several anthologies have been published by Authorspress & GNOSIS, New Delhi, India. She is the editor of Labyrinth: An International Refereed Journal of Postmodern Studies (ISSN 0976-0814). She also edits World Journal of Gender and Literature (WJGL), ISSN: 2349-1620 published by Authorspress. She is in the advisory and editorial boards of several leading national and international journals of India. She completed a Minor Research Project entitled 'Postmodernist Theories of Identity and Salman Rushdie's Fiction' accorded by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi in 2011. "The Teaching and Assessment of English for Global Purposes in Higher Education Institutions of Madhya Pradesh: Issues challenges and Possible Solutions" is her next MRP sponsored by University Grants Commission, New Delhi.
