About the Book:Today, knowledge management is witnessing rapid changes due to various factors such as information explosion, production of rehash, advancements in computer and communication technologies including the Internet. No matter how the information is generated, its storage, organization, dissemination and effective utilization are of much importance. In order to cope up with this situation, libraries and information centres are striving hard to exploit the latest technologies for their management and services. This book focuses on the role of libraries as knowledge management centres in their organizations.The articles included in this volume are selected by peer review from the papers presented in the National Seminar on Technology Management in Libraries organized by the College of Horticulture, Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), Vellanikkara, Thrissur, in collaboration with the Academic Library Association (ALA) and Kerala Library Association (KLA) during 29-30 August 2014. The seminar was sponsored by the Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), Government of Kerala. Contributors of the articles included in this volume are mostly from universities, colleges, research institutions and other academic institutions with sufficient knowledge on library management, technology adoption for library administration and services, etc. This book will be useful for library professionals, information users, students and teachers. About the Editors:Dr. A.T. Francis, presently working as University Librarian, Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), Thrissur has been in the library/teaching profession for more than 30 years. Before joining in KAU, he has worked in NPOL, DRDO, Govt. of India, Kochi for six years; JN College, Lakshadweep and Govt. Medical College, Thrissur for few months each. After obtaining M.Com (Financial Management), MLISc and NET/UGC, he did his PhD in the Dept. of Computer Applications, Cochin University of Science and Technology.He has also done several Diploma/Certificate level courses in Computer Applications, Network Administration, Library Automation, Digital Library Software etc. from DRDO, Kochi, DRTC/ISI, Bangalore, NIC and VSSC/ISRO, Trivandrum, Inflibnet Centre/UGC, Ahmedabad, National Academy of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, IIM, Kozhikode, etc.He taught Research Methodology and Library and Information Science, Management and ICTs for BSc (Hons), MSc/MVSc in Agriculture, Forestry, Co-operation, Banking and Management, MTech/PhD (Agrl. Engg.), MVSc and MBA courses of KAU and also the subjects for BLISc and MLISc courses.He is a Project Guide for MBA and MLISc courses and PhD Research Guide in 02 universities. Two students completed PhD research work under him and 08 students are doing.He has published 13 books/monographs and more than 50 research papers. He has also delivered two Radio Talks in AIR. Dr. V. Vishnu, M.Sc., B.Ed., M.L.I.Sc., PhD is presently Librarian cum Information Officer & Head of the Division of Library and Information Services, Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram (RCC), one of the front-running Cancer Centres in India. He has been in this profession since 1995. Before joining RCC, he has worked in Vocational Higher Secondary Education, Govt. of Kerala and Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur. He was instrumental in developing the Library Division of RCC into an Oncology Resource Centre of the State. RCC library is one of the most sought after resourceful libraries by the medical and research professionals from in and outside the State. Awarded PhD by the University of Kerala for the research topic ‘Information Needs, Use Pattern and Information Seeking Behaviour of Oncologists and Oncoscientists in the IT Environment’. He has several publications to his credit.
