About Thomas Hardy Thomas Hardy was an English novelist and poet, best remembered for his works: The Mayor of Casterbridge, Far From The Madding Crowd, and Jude the Obscure. A student at King’s College, London, he achieved success after the publication of his fourth novel and was awarded the British Order of Merit for his work in 1910.
