Despite being aggressive and frequently violent, Roderick is still very loving and giving. His father lost his inheritance and fled Scotland, leaving his son impoverished. The innocent Roderick arrives in London after serving a brief apprenticeship to a surgeon. There, he runs into various outlaws.
