The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain are two stories, deemed as one of the finest literary pieces of work in the history of American fiction. The two stories revolve around two young boys - Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry. Rural Mississippi has been chosen as the backdrop of the two stories. The story of Tom Sawyer is a narration of the adventures and the adolescent love the boy experiences as he lives his life in a carefree and chivalrous manner. There are several episodes such as the one with the white-washed fence and that of the treasure buried by Joe in a cave. He also encounters situations, where he manages to save an innocent man from being framed for murder. The story of Huckleberry Finn draws satirical parallels on the racist American standards prevalent in those times. Huck makes friends with a coloured slave Jim in a raft and encounters many hazards along the river. The rest of the story is about the different adventures that he encounters and how he overcomes the social taboo of helping a slave. Mark Twain was born Samuel L. Clemens in 1835 in Florida, Mississippi. He has written novels such as A Tramp Abroad and The Prince and the Pauper. He received formal education till the age of 12 years. He started writing as Mark Twain from 1863. He died in 1904.
