In one set of stories he takes readers through the life of Jack Kerouac, and tells readers how Kerouac discovered jazz, how he took up drugs and how he went to Colorado and met Neal Cassady. This anthology also gives an account of Beatnik Chicks, written by Joyce Brabner to go beyond the beat movement and explain the restrictions on women's roles back in the 50s and how the beatniks fought against it. About Harvey Pecker Harvey Lawrence Pecker was a Hollywood independent comic book writer who is best known for his autobiographical American Splendor comic series. He has also worked as a music critic and media personality. He has also worked on The Quitter, Ego & Hubris: The Michael Malice Story, Macedonia, and Studs Terkel's Working: A Graphic Adaptation. The series has also been adapted into a critically acclaimed film adaptation.
