He migrated to America in 1959 as a Fullbright scholar at the University of California. He founded the Blue Mountain Centre of Meditation and Nilgiri Press, which are based out of Northern California. He has authored several books like Climbing the Blue Mountain: A Guide for the Spiritual Journey, The Undiscovered Country: Exploring the Promise of Death and The Compassionate Universe.
