The first section of the book consists of Jeremiah’s warnings to Judah and Jerusalem (chapters 1–25). Jeremiah condemns the people for their idolatry, corruption, and disobedience to the covenant, warning them that their actions will lead to God’s judgment. He speaks against alliances with foreign nations and false prophets who offer false hope. Jeremiah prophesies that Judah will be conquered by Babylon and that the people will be taken into exile unless they repent.The second section (chapters 26–45) presents a mix of narrative and prophecies, focusing on Jeremiah’s personal struggles and the political events leading up to the fall of Jerusalem in 586 B.C. This section recounts Jeremiah’s conflict with kings, false prophets, and the general populace, many of whom reject his message. Jeremiah is imprisoned, threatened with death, and despised for his persistent warnings, but he remains committed to delivering God’s word. His famous "Letter to the Exiles" encourages the people in Babylonian captivity to settle in the land and wait for God’s appointed time of restoration.
