Summary of the Book When Tintin tries to help a stranded pilot in the Belgian countryside, he is shot, awakening later in a hospital. The Thompson Twins tell him that the plane later flew to Sussex, England, only to crash. Tintin journeys to England to understand what happened, but on the way, he is framed for robbery. He escapes from the thieves who framed him and journeys to the crash site, finding a torn note in the pilot’s jacket. He follows the trail led by the note to the estate of Dr. J. W. Müller, a German who runs a mental institution. Something nefarious is going on in the institution, and it is linked to a black island where a monster threatens all visitors. What manner of creature is this monster and what is the link between all these strange events? About Hergé Georges Prosper Remi, better known as Hergé, was a Belgian cartoonist best known for creating the characters in the Tintin comics series. He completed 23 books in the series and is best remembered for Tintin in Tibet and Prisoners of the Sun. After working for a brief stint at various newspapers, he started serialization of the Tintin stories in 1929. He is considered to have greatly influenced the world of comics, majorly European comics, and was included in the Harvey Award Jack Kirby Hall of Fame and the Eisner Award Hall of Fame as the Judge's choice. The Tintin series has since been adapted into two TV series, one radio series and five full-length movies, including a 2011 hit movie directed by Steven Spielberg.
