Summary of the Book In this book, Gary Bass looks at secret White House tapes, declassified documents and uses investigative reporting to explain his view of what happened before the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971. He writes that there was a secret operation prior to the war, one involving scandals. He writes about the events that led up to the war and his ideas on the formation of Bangladesh.
