"The Boy in the Bush" is a novel by D.H. Lawrence which was written in collaboration with Mollie Skinner, an Australian who was born in Western Australia. "A young Englishman, Jack Grant, has been sent by his parents to make a new life in the raw, pioneering colony of Western Australia in the 1880s." He is met at the dock by George, a Dickensian-like character, who introduces him to his mother's relatives. Jack had many exciting adventures and met many interesting characters. The characters he met were often humorous, eccentric people. He tames horses, competes for the love of two cousins, and marries Monica before being enchanted by the dark-eyed Mary. He gradually became a mature, independent young man with a vivid set of goals for the future
