This novella was written by Charles Dickens in 1844. The plot revolves around the main character, Trotty,whi is an elderly ticket-porter. On New Year's Eve, when his daughter and her fiancé inform him about their decision to marry the next day, Trotty crosses paths with several other characters. The outcomes of these encounters put Trotty, his daughter and her fiancé in an existential crisis and leaves them wondering if they even had a right to live, let alone marry.
