The Complaints is an internationally bestselling detective novel written by Ian Rankin. Summary of the Book The Complaints are the cops who investigate other cops when necessary. Detective Inspector Malcolm Fox is one of them. He is given an assignment to investigate Sergeant Jamie Breck, who is suspected of being corrupt. Meanwhile, Breck is investigating the death of Vince Faulkner, who was known to be in an abusive relationship with Malcolm’s sister. When Fox and Breck come to know each other well enough during their investigations, it turns out that Breck is not a dirty cop after all. They both develop a friendship which will cost Fox too much, as it leads to conflicts with his superior officers. Will Breck and Fox still continue to investigate the death of Faulkner? Will Fox be able to solve the cases as well as his personal issues? About Ian Rankin Ian Rankin was born in Scotland. He is a crime writer who is best known for the unputdownable Inspector Rebus novels. He regularly contributes to a BBC Two arts programme called Newsnight Review. He has won the CWA Gold Dagger for Fiction for his work, Black and Blue. Some of Rankin’s other works are A Cool Head, Doors Open, Watchman, The Flood and Beggars Banquet.
