They are mostly known for their modern translations of famous works in Russian, French, Italian and Greek. They were awarded the PEN/Book-of-the-Month Club Translation Prize twice for their translations of Tolstoy's Anna Karenina and Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov.
