The Daughter of Time is the last classic mystery novel written by Josephine Tey, which she compiled shortly before her death. Summary of the Book This title is about a modern police officer’s investigation into the supposed crimes of King Richard III of England. The Scotland Yard Inspector, Alan Grant, is bored as he lay on the hospital bed with a broken leg. He is intrigued by King Richard’s life and the case of the Princes in the Tower, when his actress friend, Marta Hallard, brings him some pictures of historical characters. Alan, who prides himself on being able to read an individual’s character from their appearances, spends weeks going through historical documents and information with the help of other friends and acquaintances, including Brent Carradine, an affable young American researcher working in the British Museum. Will Grant find out something that the others have missed? About Josephine Tey Josephine Tey was the pseudonym of the Scottish author, Elizabeth Mackintosh, who is best known for mystery novels. She also wrote under the name, Gordon Daviot. Her works, Inspector Alan Grant novels, are famous for their fast-paced plots. Some of the other stand-alone mysteries penned by Josephine are: Miss Pym Disposes, The Franchise Affair, and Brat Farrar.
