Superman dies in The Death of Superman, an amazing graphic novel from DC Comics. Summary of the Book The Man of Steel has faced many enemies before. They have hurt him, they have bruised him, and they have tired him. However, he has always risen up to any challenge, and because of his success, the world has taken him for granted. This time, his powers might not be enough. Miles below the Earth, there rests an alien spacecraft, sealing within it a strange and powerful being. It knows nothing but that it must escape its vault. It pounds away at its metal casket with its one arm, the other tied behind it. It manages to break free, and walks the Earth, seemingly a juggernaut. Some members of the Justice League - Maxima, the former Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Ice, Booster Gold, Bloodwynd and Blue Beetle rush to thwart its progress. The creature single-handedly cripples all of them, nearly beating them to a pulp. Hearing distress calls, Superman flies towards them, faster than a speeding bullet. He takes on the creature, holding back at first. But when the creature punches Superman, sending him reeling, the Man of Steel realizes that he isn’t facing any ordinary foe. No, this clawed and ash-coloured creature is anything but ordinary. Superman takes the creature head on, but this time, the Man of Tomorrow might not live past today. He has met his match in this creature who is so terrifying, so apocalyptic that he is called Doomsday. About the Authors Dan Jurgens is an American comic book writer and artist, best known for his work with DC Comics on the Superman titles, The Adventures of Superman and Superman (Vol. 2). He is also recognized for creating the character of Booster Gold. Roger Stern is an American comic book writer and novelist. He has also adapted the complete Death of Superman storyline into a novel entitled The Death and Life of Superman. Louise Simonson is an American comic book editor and writer. She is known for her work on Superman: The Man of Steel and Steel at DC Comics. Jerry Ordway is an American comic book writer, penciller, inker and painter. He is known for his work on the continuity-redefining Crisis on Infinite Earths and his lengthy run on the Superman titles. He has also written and painted the Captain Marvel original graphic novel The Power of Shazam! This book is credited with starting the death related storylines in the world of comics. Most notably, it was carried over to the Batman storyline with the arrival of Bane, the man who broke the Batman. The book was also loosely adapted into an animated movie by DC Entertainment.
