Khushwant Singh thought that the nation was coming to an end after he witnessed the violence of the Partition, over half a century ago. He believed he had seen the worst, until the last few years which made him realize that the worst was still not over. He analyzes the communal riots in Gujarat in 2002 and the anti-Sikh riots of 1984. He also scrutinizes the burning of Graham Staines and his sons and the targeted killings by terrorists in Punjab and Kashmir. He examines the absolute corruption of religion in India and communal politics.
