He gives readers a historical narrative, both engrossing and educative in its riveting flow, and shows them how the once-mighty kingdom fell under situations it could not control. He reveals how the kingdom was primed for conquest as it was continuously crippled by intrigues, betrayals, assassinations and wars, losing freedom and the prized Koh-i-Noor diamond in one stretch, leaving the young Maharaja Duleep Singh to seek exile in Britain. This book tells the story of Punjab’s fall with fire, passion and drama. About Khushwant Singh Khushwant Singh was an Indian novelist, journalist, lawyer and politician. He is best remembered for his books Train to Pakistan, Delhi: A Novel, With Malice towards One and All and The Company of Women. In recognition of his work, Singh was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award in India, and the Punjab Rattan Award.
