He is the author of The English Girl, The Messenger, Portrait of a Spy, and A Death in Vienna. Daniel Silva was born in Michigan, but was raised and educated in California. He was a catholic at birth, but later converted to Judaism. Daniel’s career began in 1984 as a journalist with United Press International. After working for a year in a temporary position, he was made permanent, after which he moved to Washington D.C., and then to Cairo, Egypt, to work as UPI’s middle east correspondent. He then returned to Washington D.C. and took up a job with CNN’s Washington Bureau. It was in the year 1994 that Daniel began work on his first novel, and in 1997, he quit CNN to take up writing full-time. He is the recipient of the Barry Award for the year 2007.
