There is no God but God, and Mohammed is the Prophet of God. Summary of the Book The Qu'ran is the foundation of all Islamic faith, the single source of the principles of Islam. It has changed the world several times. Revealed to Mohammed through the Angel Gabriel over a period of 23 years, the Qu'ran contains the word of God as believed by Muslims throughout the world, and was committed to memory by the Prophet's followers. First collected by the Caliph Abu Bakr, the Qu'ran was recompiled in the original dialect by the Caliph Uthman. The current translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali is considered to be the most faithful, and tries to capture the message of God from the original Arabic text. It strives to bring this message to believers all around the world, spreading the tenets of Islam throughout. About Abdullah Yusuf Ali Abdullah Yusuf Ali was an Indian Islamic scholar remembered best for introducing the Qu'ran to the English speaking world. A graduate of the University of Leeds, he served as the principal of Islamia College in Lahore, British India. He also opened the Al-Rashid Mosque, the third mosque in North America.
