The Idiot is a masterpiece written by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. It is often regarded as one of the most wonderful literary triumphs of the “Golden Age” of Russian literature. Summary of the Book Prince Lev Nikolaevich Myshkin, a saintly man, comes to live in a society that is only concerned with power, sexual conquests and wealth. Myshkin becomes the centre of a violent love triangle in which an infamous woman and a beautiful young girl become deeply involved in a rivalry to gain his complete attention and love. Dostoyevsky, in The Idiot, tries to find the "man in a man" whose life is wrecked by human misery. The story has also been adapted into movies by several filmmakers. About Fyodor Dostoyevsky Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky was a famous Russian novelist, short story writer, philosopher, essayist and journalist. His works are widely famous as an intense exploration of human psychology, especially in the context of extreme conditions of human misery.
