This seminal book was written in reply to all the books that were pouring out on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the 1857 Uprisin,g all across the British Empire; all written by western authors of course. This is the first book written by in Indian, who revisits all the events, and narrates all that he could, or could not see. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar has always been revered by the more outspoken advocates of the revision of the role and contribution of many forgotten freedom-fighters. In this present book, Savarkar turns all fondly laid-out tables upside down. With the sound and fury of a medieval bard he takes us through an emotionally very charged reading campaign. Many myths are broken, many preserved, and many created. In this narrative the British are painted in a shade as dark as they ones they painted the Indian in.
