Flipkart Official Review This is probably the only Indian travelogue of the Himalayas, which I loved reading. Gaurav Punj does not give you the Himalayas like you would have expected or read of or seen. He just gives you his version – plain and simple and no frills attached. “The Land of Flying Lamas” is a charming book – the sort that also is capable of calming the reader to a large extent. It is wistful and I felt I was there, in the mountains, sharing stories with people around me and sipping my cup of tea. Punj speaks of treks, and the life in neighbouring areas. A book that will satisfy the soul for sure.   The Land of Flying Lamas & Other Real Travel Stories from the Indian Himalaya is a book which talks about the beauty of the Himalayan range of mountains and describes it as a place that is so magical that you might just see flying Lamas. Summary of the Book Everyone knows of the beauty of the Himalayas, but not many have actually been there to witness it. The book comes to explain that beyond the Himalayas that is known to most people is a place which has beautiful green meadows, streams flowing with bubbly water and pretty flowers in bloom. This is the part of the great mountains that hasn't been taken over by tourism. The book is a compilation of short stories of people who have experienced the real Himalayas and have shared their stories - it is a call for those of us who wish to travel and to find ourselves. A chapter by one of India's Top Fitness Professionals, Rujuta Diwekar, on why one has to trek and what effects trekking has on the body completes the book. About the Author Gaurav Punj is the author of this book and the creator of CWH (Connect With Himalaya). It is a forum that promotes tourism in the lesser known parts of the Himalayas which are waiting to be explored.
