The novel is about a story of an ambitious builder, and a simple professor who books a flat with this company. Although started initially as an upright and honest businessman, Ramesh Verma got succumbed to the lure of reaching higher echelons of success by either hook or crook. He tried to take greater risk and got involved with politicians and scrupulous business associated who took him to the wrong path. As a result, he diverted funds from construction of flat to other businesses. One of the flat buyer who was cheated was Prof Saxena. He joined the struggle to get his flat. Ramesh Verma had one daughter and story is the dramatic struggle of her to overcome financial crisis in the family. Prof Saxena had a son and he tried to be successful in his medical profession despite many adverse situations.The climax of the novel is a depiction of the extent of human contradictions. The novel is a beautiful depiction of human emotions and life contradiction thrown at individuals without any forewarning.
