Faith helps us feel the presence of the things that we don’t necessarily see. About Joseph Murphy Joseph Murphy was a Divine Science minister and author. He was born in Ireland and was the son of a private boy's school headmaster. Raised a Roman Catholic, he went on to study for the priesthood and joined the Jesuits. In his twenties, an experience with healing prayer led him to leave the Jesuits and move to the United States. Here, he became a pharmacist in New York as he had a degree in chemistry by that time. Here he attended the Church of the Healing Christ, where Emmet Fox had become minister in 1931.
